Before
The hour before a celebration is the quietest it will be all week. Rooms fill slowly. Someone checks a knot for the fourth time. Nothing has happened yet, and everything is already happening.

The Street
Light moved faster than the procession did. We stayed low, stayed close, and let the crowd carry the frame.

After
By the time the music stopped, nobody was performing anymore. That is usually when the photographs begin.
